Adult USTA League Information

USTA League Tennis is the largest recreational tennis league, with more than 325,000 players nationwide. Play consists of organized, competitive team play, with local winning teams advancing to Sectional and National championships.

Play is available at all levels of play, from beginners to former college players. If you are interested in playing, please contact our Local League Coordinators (see below).

  • Adult 18 & Over: matches played January to April.
  • Adult 40 & Over: matches played April to mi-June.
  • Adult 55 & Over: matches played January/February.
  • Adult 65 & Over: matches played January/February.
  • Mixed 18 & Over: matches played mid-June to mid-September.
  • Mixed 40 & Over: matches played January to mid-March.
  • Mixed 55 & Over: matches played September to mid-November.
  • Combo 18 & Over: matches played mid-September to mid-December.
  • Combo 50 & Over: matches played mid-September to end November.
  • Tri-Level 18 & Over: matches played April to mid-June.

Matches: Match play is the best of two sets, with regular scoring and a set tie-break at 6-all in each set. In the event of split sets, a match tie-break is played in lieu of a third set.

Levels of Play/Match Format: (Explanation of levels of play can be found at www.ustaflorida.com under “Adult Tennis” then “USTA Leagues” then “NTRP Ratings” then “About NTRP Ratings”.)

Adult 18 & Over: 2.5 and 5.0+: 1 singles/2 doubles.

Adult 18 & Over: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5: 2 singles/3 doubles.

Adult 40 & Over: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+: 2 singles/3 doubles.

Adult 55 & Over: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5: 3 doubles.

Adult 65 & Over: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Mixed 18 & Over: 2.5, and 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Mixed 40 & Over: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Mixed 55 & Over: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Combo 18 & Over: 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Combo 50 & Over: 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5 (combined ratings): 3 doubles.

Tri-Level 18 & Over: 3.5/4.0/4.5: 3 doubles.

All of the above facilities are in the Northwest area of Gainesville, except Gainesville Golf & Country Club and Haile Plantation, which are located in SW Gainesville, and Jonesville Tennis Center which is west of I-75, halfway between Gainesville and Newberry. There are three other city public court facilities, each with 4 hard courts, no court monitors.
